Yoga References for a beginner

Question:

I’ve only attended a few Yoga classes in the past, and am now interested in taking up the practice once again. The problem is that there are not any studios available locally. Can you recommend a couple of good titles or links that will help me get started? Thanx. DLP

Response:

David, I started back doing yoga 2 years ago with the help of the "yoga for beginners video".  Check it out . It is well worth the $15. Have fun! Paul

David, I just realized that my last post probably wasn’t too helpful so I thought I’d follow it up with a bit more detail.  The "Yoga Practice for Beginners" video is part of a series of yoga videos by Yoga Journal. I really enjoyed learning with this tape. You can get it through Yoga Journal or you can call them at 1-800-254-8464. Sorry if this reads like a comercial but I really do recommend this tape for beginners and have given it to my friends who have expressed an interest in yoga. If you are looking for a book you might check out "Yoga, The Iyengar Way", by Silva, Mira, and Shyam Mehta. It has pictures and descriptions of muchos asanas. As always, try to find a good teacher who can give some feedback and guidance. I hope this helps a bit . Good luck. Paul
