Mary's Exercise – Day 4

Question:

I’ll be posting my exercise here every day and I’ll just be continuing from the day before so I’ll always be able to see a running total. Day 4 – Sept. 25 – Walked 30 minutes at VERY fast pace.                            Includes 1/4 mile run (all my lungs could handle for today…I was wheezing a lot.) Day 3 – Sept. 24 – Walked 55 minutes, including a quarter mile run. Day 2 – Sept. 23 – Walked 30 minutes, including a half mile run. Day 1 – Sept. 22 – Walked 50 minutes. — Mary 245 in early May ‘99  (size 22/24) 221-223 on September 22  (size 18/20) Next weigh in….Nina’s birthday….October 8th.  =) Long Term Goal: 160 or a size 12/14…whichever comes first. Mary, keep up the great work.  pretty soon the asthma won’t be as bad.  all that working of the lungs helps amazingly :) Julie – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Well, I have asthma, so the wheezing is always with me but it really comes out when I exercise or when I’m around something that I’m allergic to (cats, dust mites, pollen, molds, etc….)   However,  the more I build up my lungs by exercise (usually by running or biking…like REALLY biking, not just going out for a stroll…the more they can handle so I can go longer without having to stop because I can’t breathe.    There’s nothing scarier than having pushed yourself too hard and then stopping because you can’t breathe. Catching your breath with asthma is almost impossible. Anyway, that’s my story.  lol — Mary 245 in early May ‘99  (size 22/24) 221-223 on September 22  (size 18/20) Next weigh in….Nina’s birthday….October 8th.  =) Long Term Goal: 160 or a size 12/14…whichever comes first. Day 6 – Sept. 27 – Didn’t work out again.   Set the alarm so I could get up and go walking before class, but I woke up feeling horrible today.   I’m stuffy, can’t breathe (wheezing) and I’m achy.   I feel out of breath just sitting here so I think exercising would be close to impossible.   I also have 2 exams this week so I don’t want to push myself too early…..meaning, I’m not going to exercise today because when I get sick, I can’t concentrate.   In order to pass my exams, I’ll need to be able to concentrate and study so I’m going to take it easy so I don’t do lots of harm for the exams at the end of the week. One good thing, though…..I noticed a difference in my stomach today.   It looks a little smaller in one area that was protruding a little bit more in the past.   Maybe I haven’t been decreasing in poundage during my plateau, but maybe my body is still changing.   A girl can dream, can’t she?  =) Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow and can go walking.   I looked for some yoga videos today at 2 stores but couldn’t find any that have been recommended.   Thought maybe I’d be able to do that, but I guess not. Looks like I might have to order them online.    I’ll let you know how I am tomorrow.  =) Day 5 – Sept. 26 – Didn’t workout.   Was out late last night so I slept in this morning.  Had to work 10:30-6:00 today and when I got home from work, I was exhausted.   I feel a nasty cold coming on….I’m extremely stuffy and achy.  Lovely…just as I’m getting re-motivated, I’m getting sick.  UGH Ah well…we’ll see about tomorrow. Well, it’s been raining non-stop (literally) for 3 days.   That, on top of me being sick, I haven’t gone out and walked.    However, today I woke up feeling like an (almost) new person.   I’m still a little congested (head) and not feeling 100% yet, but I went through my day thinking I’d wait another day to exercise.   That was, until tonight. Well, this evening I met with my advertising group to go over group project information and on the drive home, I just had this strong desire to go for a walk.  I walked into the house, changed out of my regular clothes, got into my workout clothes and went for a walk at 7:40pm.   I was armed with my coat, my Walkman, and my umbrella (it was still raining…lightly, but it was) and I started out slow because I didn’t want to push myself.  By the end, however,  I was cruising and pushing myself to go faster. It was a really strange day.   I can occasionally breathe through my nose again and I felt really energized during my walk.    Hopefully this was just a short cold and I’ll be back to myself tomorrow.   My dad swears that he always feels better faster if he exercises during his colds.  Strange, but maybe it will work for me too.   Anyway, I’m babbling….here’s my exercise for the day: Day 7 – Sept. 28 – Walked 40 minutes.  That brings me to 205 minutes/2000. Only  1795 to go!  LOL Day 6 – Sept. 27 – Didn’t work out again.   I’ve got a cold. Day 5 – Sept. 26 – Didn’t workout.   I feel a cold coming on. Day 11 – Oct. 2 – 20 minutes to Buns of Steel.   WHOA.  lol   If I ever get through that video, it will be a miracle.  lol  I did the 20 minutes of "standing up" exercise…we hadn’t even gotten to the floor exercises but I had to stop.  My legs, butt and stomach felt like jelly. After I stopped that one, I decided I hadn’t had a good enough workout, although Buns of Steel-3 (Buns & More) is definitely aerobic, but I decided to put in Richard’s tape.    I did that for 30 minutes and one of these days I think I might actually get the steps down.  That’s definitely one disadvantage to his tapes…he just dances and doesn’t call out what move you’re going to switch to (most of the time.)  It’s fun though, so I’m usually just hopping all over the living room and moving, even if I’m not completely following his steps.  =) So…total aerobic for today was 50 minutes.    Total aerobic so far in the challenge….295/2000!  Woo hooo!  =) Day 10 – October 1 – Didn’t have time to work out.  Helped grandparents do laundry, grocery shopping etc….
