F.A.Q. Page?/Questions/Advice

Question:

Is there a YOGA F.A.Q. page? To be quite honest, I’m trying to find out if YOGA or TAI-CHI would be better for me over the upcoming holiday break.  I want some form of relaxation exercise that has A LOT of Flexibility involoved.  I’m a full time student and I work full time for a Home Fitness Store.  Over the break I want some form of relaxation (not necessarily meditation, but I’m not against it either) and to work on flexibility. Currently, I’m into weight training, running and hockey.  I am a former Marine and I used to have a body fat % of about 10% and I had excellent flexibility.  Well, diet and lifestyle have increased the body fat % to 18% and sometimes it’s all I can do to tie my shoes. In my store we have really nice YOGA kits: a real nice YOGA mat, two foam blocks, a cloth "band" to help hold stretches, and a video.  I’m not necessarily interested in the video, because I want to go somewhere else have someone instruct me.  But, now that i’ve done some research on YOGA I realize that there are many disciplines. I just wanted to know if there was an F.A.Q. page -or- to get feedback from people involved with YOGA.  What disclipline (or video if there are any good ones) would aid with helping to unwind at night and help out with flexibility. ~Jeff — Jeffery L. Response:

Dear Jeff Check out Ashtanga or "Power" yoga.  Very intense physically and mentally. Beryl Bender Birch has a great book available and Bryan Kest’s first video is good. Good luck and please write back if you need more detail or have any questions. Love and Laughter, Jack – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Is there a YOGA F.A.Q. page?
